Nadácia Detského kardiocentra (The Children's Cardiac Center Foundation)
The Children's Cardiac Foundation was established in 1993 by doctors from the Children's Cardiac Center (DKC) with the vision of advancing pediatric cardiology in Slovakia.
Today, the Foundation provides support to pediatric cardiac patients from birth through adulthood, covering around 5000 patients, ensuring a comprehensive approach to their care. Its activities include fundraising, modernizing the Center, and purchasing medical equipment. It supports medical conferences as well as educational projects that help children keep up with their peers outside the hospital. Additionally, the Foundation promotes physical activity through a dedicated sports club for children with CHD, implements "child-friendly" hospital principles through art, playrooms, and non-medical equipment, and organizes family-centered events. Other initiatives include the annual "Cardio Camp" in the summer, festive celebrations to bring joy to hospitalized children, and various programs aimed at improving their overall well-being.
